The “Lykan Hypersport” is a Lebanese limited production supercar built by “W Motors”, a company based in the United Arab Emirates. It was founded in 2002 in Lebanon with the collaboration of Lebanese, French and Italian engineers. The Lykan Hypersport is the first supercar to be designed and built strictly in the Middle East.
If this car looks familiar it should, it was featured in the 7th installment of the Fast & Furious franchise as a multi-million dollar car which it clearly is.
The Lykan Hypersport boasts rear-hinged butterfly doors which are unique to the Hypersport and it also has the most expensive and beautiful pair of headlights. The headlights comprise of a titanium LED blade encrusted with 420 diamonds which come standard with the car although buyers have a selection of Rubies, Yellow Diamonds and Sapphires to choose from.
The Lykan Hypersport has one of the most unique and futuristic interiors of any car today. Where all car manufacturers today are utilizing huge LED screens as their infotainment system W Motors took it to the next level by making their screen completely a “Holographic mid-air” Display which is controlled by interactive hand gestures. The gauge cluster even though not holographic uses an LED screen with 4K graphics which make it seem like the screen does not exist.
To make the Hypersport able to compete with the other supercars in the world, W Motors took a page out of Porsche’s arsenal using a 3.7-litre twin-turbocharged Flat-six engine which is capable of producing 780hp and 708 lb-ft of torque. The Lykan Hypersport is available with either a 6-speed Sequential Transmission or a 7-speed Dual-Clutch PDK Transmission. W Motors claims it has a top speed of 395 kmph which was a lot in 2013 when this car was launched and is still quiet an amazing accomplishment for the first supercar of the Middle-East.
The Lykan Hypersport costs US$3.4 million and is the third most expensive car ever built. Only seven units were built out of which only two have been reportedly sold, one to an anonymous buyer and one to the Abu Dhabi police force in June 2015. “W Motors” is all set to launch the successor to the Lykan Hypersport which will be called the “Lykan Fenyr”. Unfortunately, not a lot of information has been launched about this car but clearly W Motors seems to have a bright future ahead of them.
