Lamborghini is very well known worldwide for their mind-bendingly fast cars, flawless engineering feats and very eye catching cars rivalling the likes of Ferrari and Porsche, but is impractically fast cars the only thing Lamborghini is capable of manufacturing?? Clearly not as on 4th December 2017 Lamborghini unveiled this…..
This is the “Lamborghini Urus”, a “Sports Utility Vehicle” (SUV) manufactured by “Automobili Lamborghini”. Contrary to popular believe this isn’t the first time Lamborghini has built an SUV, back in 1981 they built a prototype off-roader exclusively for the military called the “Lamborghini LM001”. Subsequently they built 3 more iterations called the “LM002, LM003 and LM004” for the public.
The design difference between the two cars is quiet apparent, the “Lamborghini Urus” is in a league of its own. Lamborghini calls this their “Super Sport Utility Vehicle” due to its incredible attention to detail, an aerodynamic kit and lines that can be traced back to the “Lamborghini Aventador”.
And its interiors look distinctively Lamborghini, especially with their iconic “Flip Switch” engine Start/Stop button. The steering wheel is custom built for the Urus and the digital gauge cluster is taken straight out of the “Lamborghini Huracan”.
Even though this is a 5-seater family car, Lamborghini wanted to maintain the driving pleasure of a sports car. It uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 as its powerplant producing 650hp and 627 lb-ft of torque and mated to an 8-speed ZF transmission which together can propel the car from 0-100 kmph in 3.6 secs, 0-200 kmph in 12.8 secs and tops out at 305 kmph making it one of the fastest production SUVs in the world. It comes with “Carbon-Ceramic” brakes which have been especially manufactured by Lamborghini for the Urus. This car features an All-Wheel Drive System, along with Rear-Wheel Steering and an Air Suspension System which helps the car in off-roading. The Lamborghini Urus will feature 6 driving modes
The last 3 driving modes are offered only in the off-road package.
Ever since Lamborghini was sold to the “Volkswagen Group” where it was placed under the group’s “Audi division” the interior technology in all Lamborghini cars have been absolutely mind-blowing, but Lamborghini has still been able to keep its name relevant in the automotive industry by adding its own flare to all its cars which made stand out in the first place.
