“Ford Motor Company” or “Ford” is an American multinational automaker headquartered in Detroit, Michigan. It was founded by “Henry Ford” in 1903 and is one of the leading automobile manufacturers in the world. Ford is the 2nd largest US based automaker and 5th largest automaker in the world. Ever since it was founded, Ford has built cars, tractors, trailers and also pickup trucks. Ford has created some of the most loved trucks in the world since it launched its first truck back in 1908 called the “Ford Model TT” and over the years many more have come and gone. But none of their trucks have had an impact on the world like this one has.
This is the “Ford f-150 Raptor” the successor of the “Ford f-150” and currently the go to choice for any car enthusiast who would like to get into a truck.
The Raptor is like no other car on the road. With its wide-body appearance to the Ford logo being integrated into the front grille, everything about this car screams “MACHO”. The Raptor is a huge step up from its predecessor the Ford f150 in the sense of pure off-roading bliss. The Ford Raptor has a more powerful engine and more ground clearance allowing it to clear obstacles and climb up steep slopes more easily.
Even though this car’s main objective is to go off-road, Ford has also added comfort features to allow for daily use. The biggest interior change from the F-150 is the paddle-shifters behind the steering wheel which allows the driver to easily shift gears while off-roading. The Raptor also features a digital gauge cluster and various buttons on the steering wheel so that the driver’s hands do not need to leave the steering wheel at all.
Under the hood of this beast is a 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 taken straight out of the new “Ford GT” which produces 450hp and 510 lb-ft of torque which makes the Raptor the most powerful truck built by Ford. Mated to an “Electronic 10-speed transmission” the Raptor can do 0-100 kmph in just 5.1 secs. In addition the Raptor also features six different driving modes.
These six driving modes can be selected under an option in the infotainment centre which Ford calls “Terrain Management System”. The Raptor has independent front and rear suspension which allows the car to conquer rocky surfaces with ease. It also has a feature called “Hill Descent Control” which when activated is designed to maintain the Raptor’s speed between 3 and 20mph.
In recent years the demand for off-roading trucks has spiked exponentially and car makers have been trying to catch up with the success of the Ford Raptor but to no avail. Currently there are only two car manufacturers that built a truck which can compete against the Raptor those being the Chrysler Ram 1500 Rebel and the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro. With no other cars in direct competition with the Ford Raptor it is sure to hold onto its position in the market.
