“BMW” or “Bavarian Motor Works” is a German multinational company that currently produces luxury automobiles and motorcycles. BMW was founded in 1916 and has its headquarters in Munich, Bavaria. BMW produces motor vehicles in Germany, Brazil, China, India, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 2015, BMW was the world’s twelfth largest producer of motor vehicles. BMW is known for producing luxury sedans and SUV’s and with Rolls-Royce currently under its ownership, BMW has access to all high end materials and technology used in Rolls-Royce vehicles upto this point. They also have a “Sport” edition to almost all their sedans which can be distinguished with the alphabet “M” in their names. However lately BMW has begun adding their “M sport” packages to their SUV’s as well the most recent one being.
This is the “BMW X6 M”, the latest addition to their SUV line-up and the most powerful SUV built by BMW ever. With its combination of luxury and performance, BMW claims it is miles better than its competitors.
According to BMW, the X6 M is not all about looks. It has aerodynamic design elements such as the M-specific air breathers (open front grille) allow air to flow through it therefore reducing turbulence at the front end of the car while the rear diffuser optimizes air flow. The rear spoiler reduces lift on the rear axle proving that even striking design can be functional. In addition the BMW X6 M also features a rear mounted twin-exhaust system which creates a very distinct engine note.
The X6 M features a three-spoke steering wheel design which is exclusive to BMW’s M series of cars and aluminium paddles mounted directly onto the steering wheel. Also located on the steering wheel are BMW’s “M Drive” controls which allow the driver to switch between driving modes without having to fiddle around with the infotainment system. The centre infotainment centre comes equipped with BMW’s exclusive software called “i-Drive” which uses the best voice command function found in the automobile industry today.
Like all other SUV’s in its class the X6 M also boasts an impressive engine and equally impressive performance figures to back it up. The BMW X6 M is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 567hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It also uses the “8-speed M Sport Automatic” transmission and an all wheel drive system which all together can propel the car from 0-100 kmph in 4 secs flat and tops out at 282 kmph but is electronically limited to 250 kmph. Its special “X-Drive” all wheel drive system distributes power to the front and rear axles equally so as to allow the car maximum traction in all kinds of weather.
“I’ll never look at a BMW the same way again. I never would have thought a SUV could carve through twisties that fast” said Ajay Shah of Jetset Magazine and I couldn’t agree with him more. With the X6 M being the most powerful SUV ever built by BMW and its competitors like the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S, Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Range Rover SVR, none of them being the most powerful SUV built by their respective manufacturers the BMW X6 M has easily beaten its competition in head-to-head comparisons and review done by various car magazines.
