By now the entire world knows exactly what Porsche is capable of. From cars that have created a benchmark for all other cars to try and beat to creating a platform that will forever be known as the “Holy Trinity of Supercars” to luxury SUV’s, Porsche has got it all. And here is Porsche’s latest addition to their line-up of luxury SUVs.
This is the “2018 Porsche Cayenne”, Porsche’s crown jewel in Comfort, Performance and Driving Pleasure and for the first time ever has been launched in India at the same time as the entire world.
Design wise it doesn’t stray away much from its predecessor except for slightly sharper lines and a more aggressive rear end. Porsche is well known for pushing boundaries in every car they build and they have done just that by adding active aerodynamics making the 2018 Porsche Cayenne the First SUV to feature an “Active Rear Spoiler”. The lines on the car flow smoothly across the entire body without being obstructed by an air vent or cooling duct of any sort giving it a simple and classy look.
The interiors have been updated to match the current needs for the 2018 model year one of them being the smaller centre and wider spokes on the steering wheel to help fit all the essential controls that the driver will require. The entire dashboard is redesigned for more sleek and luxurious look and is covered in leather. The centre of the dash is dominated by a large screen for a state of the art infotainment system developed by Porsche. The gauge cluster consists of three individual gauges of which the right and left gauge can be customized to display whatever the driver wishes to see. The centre gauge displays the tachometer and the digital speedometer.
It doesn’t matter if the car in development is an SUV or a luxury sedan, Porsche never compromises of power and driving experience. The Porsche Cayenne runs a new 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 from the Porsche Panamera which produces 40hp and 50 lb-ft of torque more than its predecessor bring the total up to 340hp and 450 lb-ft of torque. As with all Porsches there is an optional “Sport Chrono Package” available with four driving mode those being;
It also features Porsche’s optional “Dynamic Chassis Control” which now has an electrically operated “Anti-Roll Bar” system which has better response time around corners to provide more stability. It’s safe to say the 2018 Cayenne puts the Sport in Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV).
Unlike previous years, where due to the limited availability of the Cayenne the Porsche Macan took the lead in sales, the flagship SUV has always been the best selling Porsche model in India. Now with Porsche making it available to India at the same time as the entire world, it is most likely to break the sales record in the SUV division of “Porsche AG”.
