Mercedes-Benz is a global auto manufacturer that was founded by Karl Benz in 1926. Ever since then almost all of their cars have been a success with critics and car enthusiasts alike. However, in 1960 Mercedes acquired another German car manufacturing company by the name of “Maybach Motorenbau” and currently produces an ultra-luxury edition of the already super luxurious “Mercedes-Benz S-Class” under the brand “Mercedes-Maybach”. The latest car in their Maybach line-up is the “2018 Mercedes S650 Maybach”.
Mercedes-Benz has always been well known for producing the most luxurious and fun to drive cars and the S650 Maybach is at the top of the line.
The Mercedes S650 Maybach very heavily resembles the design of the 2018 Mercedes S-Class with the difference being that the Maybach is an entire foot longer than the standard S-Class. The 2018 Maybach also has a modified front grille and an optional two-colour paint job.
But the interior is where you really want to be in a Maybach. Mercedes prides themselves on not using any kind of plastic in their interiors which results in it being blanketed with premium quality leather, alcantara and aluminium with a giant piece of polished oak wood running across the entire dashboard and doors. It also has two massive LED screens one of which serves as the gauge cluster and one as the infotainment system. The track pad on the centre arm rest can be used to select any option the driver wants in the infotainment system and the buttons on the steering wheel can be used to configure the gauge cluster to suit the driver’s needs. The centre arm rest also contains a storage unit which can be accessed by lifting up the arm rest.
The Mercedes S650 Maybach is clearly built solely for luxury and not for performance purposes, infact the entire Mercedes-Maybach lineup is built solely for luxury. This however does not stop Mercedes from incorporating some of their most complex driving systems. This car is powered by a 6.0-litre Bi-Turbo V12 engine which produces nearly 630hp which helps in gradual power gain for the most comfortable driving experience. The S650 Maybach features Mercedes’ iconic self-driving technology called “Distronic Plus” which is capable of braking, accelerating, maintaining speed, changing lanes and even making turns without the driver’s inputs.
Mercedes is one of the few car makers in the world that has built sports cars, luxury cars and SUV’s and has been praised for almost all their cars, however is it possible for a car manufacturing company to stay at the top of their game for its entire lifespan??? Well as Mercedes has proved, it is very much possible.
